The Coffee Boy

I have come across many people who grapple with the vagaries of life.How many twists and turns in their lives? Sathish, the boy who brings coffee in my office is one such not-so-lucky person. His story touched my heart. Sathish had lost his mother at a very young age and was raised by his father.But he did not share a good relationship with his father and was completely detached from the family.His upbringing made him an irresponsible and easy-going person. He used to spend all the money given by his father lavishly and was not questioned by him.He had no one to seek guidance or support except for his maternal grandparents, whom Sathish used to visit once in a blue moon. However, Sathish was a brillaint student.So he went on to study engineering. But as a twist of the fate, his father passed away when he was just in his first year of graduation. Sathish had to discontinue his studies and had to join the pantry in my office as a coffee boy.An ambitious engineering student is in charge of supplying coffee in my office today.But what surprises me is the hope that Sathish has got. I was gobsmacked when he shared his story with a smile tugged to his lips. He has plans to finish at least a bachelor degree and get a secured job. I pray from the bottom of my heart for his dreams to come true.
