What to Name It

On my way to work this morning, a middle aged woman boarded the bus with her two special children. I was delighted to see her calm and poised face. There was not a single sign of weariness in her face. Moreover, she didn't cajole the fellow passengers to spare their seats for her children citing their condition as a reason. She let them travel by standing all the way (they seemed to have the stamina). One among the two was a boy, who occupied a seat by himself when a passenger alighted in his destination. After a few stops, the girl also found a seat on her own and was signaling her mother to stand beside her. What surprised me was the mother was not cocooning or defending her special children. She was only guiding and supporting them. She gave them the freedom to fight against the odds in their lives. The children couldn't have learned the Darwinian concept of "the survival of the fittest" in a better way.

She's doing it right. She's making her kids independent even though they are in such condition.
