Yesterday, I happened to visit Tiruporur (Murugan) Temple with my mom. I was shocked by the filthiness of the place.Visitors and devotees have dumped all the possible garbages inside this temple- crushed plastic water packets, water bottles, crushed paper plates, soiled papers, and leaves. You have to literally walk on these bits and pieces. To make the condition worse, some visitors also pour water, break coconuts, light lamps and camphor balls anywhere on the wayside. The cleanliness sense of our people is appalling. There should be stringent laws to monitor such inorderliness and protect the cleanliness and decorum of temples.
