Rural and Urban Life

A lung full of fresh air,
A heart full of love,and
A mind full of peace
Fill a stomach that is half empty.

A lung full of smoke
A heart full of grudges, and
A mind full of stress
Fill a stomach that is already full.

The Rain!

Oh, Rain!
 Have you come to the Earth to tie the knot?

 See the Sun that is hiding behind the dark clouds
 Watch the trees that are dancing to the tunes of the wind
 Look at the waves that are jumping out of joy
 Who is your bride?

  Thunders are beating the drums
  Lightning is flashing the lights
Winds are blowing the trumpet
Rainbows are flagging the festoons
  Isn't it a divine time?

Birds are reciting the divine chants
Farmers are blessing you
Ponds, lakes, and reservoirs are having a feast
Isn't it a grand wedding?

Stand Still in Life !

Breeze may come and go
pushing the flower down, but
the plant remains still;

Rain may come and go
letting the water touch the earth,but
the sky remains still;

Quake may come and go
damaging the earth, but
the floor remains still;

God may come and go
making the people realize him,but
his power remains still;

Money may come and go
testing the attitude of people,but
its value remains still;

Happiness and sadness may come and go
changing the trend of life,now
you stand still!

(This poetry was penned by me for an intra-mural competition when I was in my second year of under-graduation.Surprisingly, it was also adjudged as the second best poem)

…………….In the lap of Mother Nature

One Sunny morning!

My heart was filled with misery and gloom

All of a sudden, I heard the sound of a flower bloom,

A fragrance wafted through my little room,

Causing a sense of buoyancy in me.

I was out of the blue, upbeat and sanguine,

with a surge in my confidence to win.

All of a sudden, the world was graceful and serene

I could not fathom as the force seemed to be divine!

All at once, appeared an angel

With sunshine in her smile

And moonlight in her eye.

“O, angel! What’s the raison d'être

Of thy’s impromptu call to the earth” said I

“Dear, folks call me by name,

Some call me an epitome of beauty, some call me happiness,

I don’t show up when you are downbeat or upbeat

But, always live here” said the angel.

“O, angel, who are you?

Where do you live?

In this land or water

Or in the sky?” uttered I.

“Daughter! I am ubiquitous

And I am the land, water and sky,

And I am your Mother Nature

With oodles of love and affection

To cherish the mankind” stated the angel.

Hail the mother nature !

Sizzling of the tree,

Bustling of honeybee,

Surging of waves,

Pay heed to the voice of Mother Nature!

“Hey folk!

Though shall bid a brief adieu to thy dues

Take heed to my plead!

Gaze at the green and tall hill

Peep into the deep and blue sea

Marvel the shining silver stars”

UTTERS Mother Nature!

Come out of the reverie!

Thou shall vow

Thou shall not sabotage

The green haven in lieu of

Her mercy and nobleness!
